The best time to view the stars is in the period following the full moon when the waning moon rises later and later after sunset, leaving the early evening free of moonlight. At the period of the new moon, it rises and sets with the sun. After that, the waxing moon sets later and later after sunset and lingers in the night sky making it more difficult to see the stars in the early evening.
Dates suitable for star gazing are highlighted white.
